I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor, bookworm and adventurer who believes in eating ice cream for breakfast and in an honest, interactive, approach to therapy.

I promise, it’s not like what you see on tv. I don’t sit there with a notebook, taking notes and nodding absentmindedly.

I show up in session just like I do in “real life”, which means there will be swearing, there will be a lot of facial expressions and because I like to explain things with metaphors, there will probably some references to Taylor Swift, Harry Potter and tv shows.

I’m a real person, and I want you to feel like a real person too. You can be yourself without judgment which means nothing is “not okay” to talk about. I’m not afraid to talk about things like money, sex, your ex or your in-laws as many times as we need to.

Hey, I’m Ashley!

I truly believe you can have a fulfilling life without sacrificing yourself, your career or your relationships.

You’ll learn to say no without feeling guilty, manage stress, decrease anxiety and feel comfortable in your own body.

You’ll break patterns of burnout and people-pleasing and develop skills you’ll use long after you leave therapy.

  • I offer intensives which you could read more about here, as well as weekly 60-min individual therapy sessions both in-person and virtually (Colorado residents only).

Like many things in life, therapy requires consistency and commitment in order to get the most out of it. I ask new clients to come weekly for the first several months to establish goals and make consistent progress towards them. After that, some of my clients continue with weekly sessions while some drop down to every other week, and then to monthly as they phase out of therapy. I take my commitment to my clients seriously, and expect them to take their commitment to therapy seriously as well. Because of this, my schedule is often booked out several weeks at a time, and cancellations may have trouble getting back into my schedule for several weeks. Clients who cancel frequently or have not scheduled a session in several weeks may be discharged.

Therapy is, by nature, a revolving door of sorts; there are always clients starting therapy and always clients stepping down. It’s a come when you need it, leave when you don’t, then come back again if/when you need it kind of thing. It requires commitment of time, energy and money, but it’s not a 2-years-locked-in gym membership kind of commitment. At all times you maintain control of yourself and you can decide to stop therapy at any point.

  • You probably aren’t interested in all the boring details so let’s cover the important things. I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Counseling in 2012 and have been in the field full-time ever since. I’ve work in outpatient clinics, inpatient hospitals, emergency rooms, residential treatment centers, outpatient clinics and private practice.

At this point I’ve seen almost everything and am rarely surprised by anything, but I’ve learned my passion is working with adult people-pleasers wanting to find relief and balance in their life, relationship issues (especially learning how to set boundaries with others) and burnout.

I work best with clients who are motivated, committed to coming to therapy consistently, and who are ready to invest in themselves.

  • From a technical standpoint, I use a few different evidence-based clinical modalities to best support my clients, including but not limited to: CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Solution-Focused Therapy. I like to explain things with metaphors and will often recommend books, podcasts or articles to clients who are interested. Full disclosure: I’ve also been known to reference tv shows like Modern Family and Friends in session because they’re funny, relatable and sometimes great examples of what not to do.

How does it work?

You probably feel a little overwhelmed by the whole finding-a-therapist process.

I get it.

There is a lot to consider, but a good fit is the most important thing.

You need someone who gets you -and- has the skills to help you.

Therapy is a serious investment of your time and money, and I want to honor that by making sure we are a good fit so you get the biggest return on your investment. If at any time you or I feel that we are not a good fit, I will provide trusted referrals.

Initial consults are a great way to get a sense of whether or not we would be a good fit. You can book a complimentary new client consult through my online by clicking the button below. You can also more of a feel for my style by reading my blog by clicking here.
